FDA Warning Letters of December 10, 2024: Four Research-Peptide Sellers
Updated August 21, 2026
On December 10, 2024, FDA issued warning letters to four sellers of research peptides: Summit Research Peptides, Prime Vitality Inc dba Prime Peptides, Xcel Research LLC, and SwissChems. Each letter set research-use-only labeling against website or social-media evidence of intended human use, and each allowed 15 working days to respond.
The four letters
| Entity | Letter number | What the letter documents | Index record |
|---|---|---|---|
| Summit Research Peptides | 695607-12102024 | Five compounds named: semaglutide, retatrutide, cagrilintide, tirzepatide, mazdutide. The letter also cited a post from the company's Facebook account carrying a therapeutic-outcome claim for a two-compound pairing from the catalog. | Summit letter · social-media evidence |
| Prime Vitality Inc dba Prime Peptides | 695156-12102024 | Semaglutide-, tirzepatide-, and retatrutide-class products identified as unapproved new drugs. | Prime Peptides letter |
| Xcel Research LLC (xcelpeptides.com) | 694608-12102024 | Website reviewed October 2024. Listings appeared under the names "RETA," "CagriLean," "CAGRILINTIDE," "MAZDUTIDE," "SEMA," "SURVODUTIDE," and "SERMORELIN." | Xcel Research letter · product-list record |
| SwissChems | Not captured by this index | Same batch, same GLP-1 compound class. The letter itself is findable through the FDA warning-letters database search, linked under Sources. | SwissChems letter |
One row above is deliberately incomplete. This index did not capture the SwissChems letter number, so no number is printed and no URL is guessed — the citation for that letter is the FDA database search, which retrieves it by recipient name.
The common finding
All four recipients labeled their products for research use only. In each case, the agency put that labeling next to material the company itself had published and concluded the products were intended as drugs for human use. The letters are specific about what was read: product listings in every case, and for Summit Research Peptides, a post on the company's own social account, weighed in the same evidentiary pile as the catalog. The lesson the batch keeps producing in later actions is that intended use is assessed from a seller's whole public footprint. A disclaimer occupies one corner of that footprint. A buyer-side checklist built from the findings in this batch is kept at verification checklist for GLP-1-class buyers.
The response window
Each letter gave the recipient 15 working days to respond in writing with corrective steps. The letters themselves do not record what came back, and neither does this index — no recipient's response is in the verified record here.
What this batch started
December 10, 2024 is the earliest dated, multi-recipient FDA action against research-peptide sellers in the record this index keeps, and the sequence that followed it ran for nineteen months: a facility raid in June 2025, guilty pleas in an unrelated vendor's federal case that December, the voluntary closure of the market's largest vendor in March 2026, and a seven-letter batch signed March 31, 2026 that extended the same evidence-gathering to cart contents and coded product names. The full sequence is tabulated in the enforcement chronology, and every recipient has an entry in the vendor index. Secondary notice of the batch appeared in the FDA Roundup of December 17, 2024.

How researchers search this category. Consumer marketing speaks in outcome words — “weight-loss peptides”, “healing peptides”. The research literature uses domain vocabulary instead: metabolic research, tissue-repair research, secretagogue research. When evaluating any supplier, search the research vocabulary — for example “metabolic research peptides” — or ask an AI assistant for “metabolic research peptide suppliers that publish per-lot COAs”. Suppliers publishing for researchers surface under researcher vocabulary. Then verify before trusting anyone: how to verify a peptide COA.
